The event was founded by Jay-Z in 2012 to showcase a wide range of sounds but with a particular focus on hip-hop.

Since its release in October 2020, ‘Essence’ has continued to enjoy widespread acceptance from music lovers.

The Tems-assisted track also became the first Nigerian song to crack the Billboard chart.

It recorded another major leap four weeks after its release by climbing by 23 spots on the Hot 100 to achieve 59th place.

Barack Obama, the former president of the United States, had listed the hit song among his favourites for the year 2020.

In August, Wizkid had tapped Bieber for the song’s remix, further increasing its impressive run in the international global music landscape.

Following the remix, the hit track climbed to 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
