Burna Boy, the Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, has come through with ‘Ballon D’Or’, his highly anticipated single.

The 30-year-old hitmaker put out the less than 4-minute track — featuring Wizkid, another Grammy winner — on Tuesday.

The song, which is produced by P2J, Nigerian British record producer, becomes the second track in which the heavyweight singers will be teaming up for in the space of a year.

‘Ballon D’Or’ comes on the heels of their collaboration on ‘Ginger’, a track off Made in Lagos, Wizkid’s 2020 hit album.

“Penkelemisi, come dey move like a disco| won ni ki ma lo la tan| I be boss, I be actor|Say dem neva give me Ballon D’Or| Oya come take a picture| Oya follow my instruction,” Burna Boy sings in the intro of the new song.

In the first verse, Wizkd croons: “O lord of mercy, I dey with one wey dey call me Messi| I dey shitta, she go fly come check me| I neva see person wey fit use money impress me| all of the things she dey do she dey test me.”

Burna Boy started to gain popularity in 2012 after releasing ‘Like to Party’, the lead single from his debut album ‘L.I.F.E’ (2013).

He signed with Bad Habit/Atlantic Records in the United States and Warner Music Group International in 2017, after which he released ‘Outside’, his third album in 2018.

In 2019, he won ‘Best International Act’ at the BET Awards and was announced Apple Music Up Next artist.

His fourth studio album ‘African Giant’ was released in July 2019, and it won ‘Album of the Year’ at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).

In 2021, Burna Boy would win the award for ‘Best World Music Album’ at the 63rd Grammy Awards.
