AY Makun, the Nigerian comedian, has revisited his ongoing rift with Seun Kuti, the Afrobeat singer.
The clash between the pair escalated after AY’s house in Lagos was gutted by fire in August 2023.
Kuti admitted that he mocked AY because the comedian “portrayed my daughter as a dog” in a skit satirizing his encounter with a police officer.
AY refuted the claim, arguing that the skit was not directed at Seun’s daughter.
During his recent live show, AY revisited the feud, claiming Kuti started the tension after he received a national award.
The comedian also alleged that Kuti’s misinterpretation is due to his “substance use”.

“See am ‘Seun Kuti mocked AY Makun when his house got burnt’. Meanwhile na him start am o, they gave me a national award. He say why I go go receive national award and all that,” he said in Pidgin English.
“Na him I come go do small skit o, the skit wey I do had nothing to do with Seun’s daughter, the problem is that the kind of igbo that that boy smokes, e dey tell am wetin e wan hear. Why will I do that? Me wey dey find Pikin for 13 years.
“I enter one chance with Seun, if I know say na Seun be I for avoid am, I no know.”
