D’BANJ APOLOGISES TO EX-MO’HITS MEMBERS

Last week, D’banj tendered an apology to the former members of Mo’ Hits Records.

Mo’ Hits Records was a Nigerian-based music record label owned by D’banj and Don Jazzy. It was founded in 2006. The label also signed artistes like Wande Coal, Dr SID, D’Prince, and K-Switch.

But in March 2012, Don Jazzy announced that D’banj had left the group.

On April 24, the singer announced a new track he said “is dear to my heart”.

D’banj also reminisced about his years in the music industry and the people who contributed to his growth.

He praised his former Mo’ Hits mates for their achievements together.

The Koko Master said he was done “blame gaming” while apologising to his former label mates over their fallout.

REMA RANTS OVER AFROBEATS FRUSTRATION ON X 

Rema aired his frustration about everything concerning Afrobeats on X.

The Afrobeats star alleged that music labels are “trying to clone me” — implying that some record labels are trying to model their artistes after him.

Rema also argued that most artistes have used him as their template since he broke onto the scene in 2019.

The ‘Calm Down’ hitmaker declared that he is officially on par with the country’s biggest three artistes — Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy.

JUNIOR POPE TO BE BURIED MAY 17

Last week, the family of Junior Pope Odonwodo announced that the Nollywood actor will be buried on May 17.

The family said a wake keep will be held in Pope’s honour on May 16, while the funeral will take place the following day.

The funeral service will be held at St. Peter’s Parish Ukehe, Enugu state.

DORIS SIMEON OPENS UP RELOCATION TO US

Doris Simeon, the Nollywood actress, revealed she left Nigeria in 2018 for the United States to be closer to her child.

She also opened up on some of the things she missed about Nigeria including acting and food vendors.

NKECHI BLESSING HITS CRITICS OF ODUMEJE

Nkechi Blessing, the actress, said she is “101% convinced” that Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, the controversial Onitsha-based pastor better known as Odumeje, is a “true man of God”.

The actress also urged people not to look down on Odumeje because he does not express himself in correct English.

ZULU ADIGWE IS DEAD 

Zulu Adigwe, the ace Nigerian actor who gained fame for his role in the 1986 sitcom ‘Basi and Company‘, died last week.

The film star passed away last Tuesday. The cause of his death is however yet to be known.

BOBRISKY FILES NOTICE OF APPEAL TO CONVERT SENTENCE TO FINE 

Bobrisky, the social media celebrity, filed a notice of appeal challenging the six-month maximum sentence given to her by a federal high court in Lagos.

Bimbo Kusanu, the counsel to Bobrisky, prayed the court of appeal to set aside the maximum sentence.

Kusanu also asked the court to replace the sentence with an option of N50,000 fine on each count.

MOHBAD’S TOXICOLOGY RESULTS OUT 

The toxicology test carried out on Mohbad, the late singer, to determine the actual cause of his death has been concluded.

The final test results were sent to the state DNA and Forensic Centre last week and were handed over to the police.

The report is also said to have been forwarded to the medical pathologist who carried out the autopsy for analysis and interpretation.

DAVIDO: MY DAD GAVE ME MY STAGE NAME 

Davido, the Afrobeats star, revealed that Adedeji Adeleke, his dad, gave him his stage name.

The singer said Adedeji Adeleke initially hesitated before supporting his music career.

The award-winning musician said when his song played on the radio, his father heard it and started calling him “Davido”.
