A video of Jada Pinkett-Smith, wife of Will Smith, the US actor, saying she does not care about people’s opinion on her bald appearance before the 2022 Oscars has surfaced online.

The actress has been in the public eye since Smith slapped Chris Rock, the comedian, for making a joke about her bald head while presenting an award on Sunday.

Rock had taken aim at Pinkett’s shaved head — which is due to the hair-loss condition alopecia.

The incident has continued to elicit intense reactions across social media platforms.

In the now-viral video, shared via her TikTok account on Wednesday, the 50-year-old film star had opened up on her struggles in Hollywood as a black woman battling hair loss.

“Being a black woman and dealing with hair in Hollywood, in the era I came up in, having your hair look as European as possible was always the thing,” she said.

“That was really challenging you know, because I liked my hair out wild and curly.

“But nobody wanted that, so I always had to do my hair in ways that didn’t feel natural to me because I’m trying to play the game.”

The film star had also claimed that her “bald” head gives her a “sense of freedom.”

“So if I’m doing a cover, everybody’s like ‘No, we want your hair straight and flowy, but that’s not really what my hair likes to do,” she added.

“So I had to learn to get the courage to go ‘Nah, I’m not doing that.’ Which is why I feel freedom today, I don’t give two cr**s what people think of this bald head of mine. Because guess what? I love it.”
