Mayorkun, the Nigerian singer, has delivered an inspiring performance of ‘Freedom’, a song off his latest album, for the Grammy Recording Academy.

The 27-year-old musician gave a spectacular performance of the song, which is the third track on ‘Back In Office‘, his sophomore album.

The less than four-minute track wherein he prides about being African and Nigerian features on the new episode of Recording Academy ‘Positive Vibes Only.

Surrounded by different flags of African countries, Mayorkun thrilled the Academy and music lovers with a patriotic rendition of the song on stage.

“I’m from a place called Africa| Current location Nigeria| I’m never changing the man I am| I’m the same nigga there’s no replica| Beautiful faces for Africa| Black roots is the only criteria| Na we dey run this side la la la la,” he sings.

On October 29, Mayorkun had released the 11-track sophomore album after several months of teasing to critical acclaim.

The body of work also features several music heavyweights like Flavour, DJ Maphorisa, Joeboy, Victony, and Gyakie.

Since his discovery by Davido in 2016, Mayorkun has continued to pull the strings of fame in the Nigerian music scene.

The DMW signee has also scooped several awards including the ‘Next Rated’ artiste at the 2018 edition of The Headies as well as ‘Artiste of the Year’ back in 2017.
