Debo Adedayo, the Nigerian comedian better known as Mr Macaroni, says no politician is doing the citizens a favor by being in office.

The skit maker and activist took to his Twitter page on Tuesday to give his thought on what political leadership really entails.

He said leadership requires service, selflessness, and sacrifice. He also called on Nigerians to come together to fight for their interest rather than over politicians.

“No politician is doing the Citizens a favor by being in office. The concept of leadership is service, selflessness and sacrifice,” he said.

“The people must unite and stop fighting themselves over politicians who only care to satisfy their own greed.”

Macaroni has always been in the news due to his skits and most especially his active involvement in the #EndSARS protest.

In April, he had raised the alarm that his life was being threatened for protesting against the Lekki-Ikoyi tollgate reopening.

The Lekki-Ikoyi tollgate was shut down in October 2020 following the army’s crackdown on unarmed #EndSARS protesters.

After more than 17 months, the Lekki Concession Company (LCC) announced that tolling activities will resume at the gate on April 1.

Mr Macaroni had earlier said anything aside from justice for the victims would not be accepted.
