‘Money Heist’, which now spans four seasons, follows Alvaro Morte (professor) who unites a team of criminals dressed in red jumpsuits and Salvador Dali masks to rob the Royal Mint of Spain.

Rodrigo disclosed plans for a remake of the award-winning series in a now-viral video chat, attributing the specifics of each actor to the persona of the characters he looks to have them play.

He said the Professor’s role could be played by Joseph Vijay, a Tamil actor, or Ayushmann Khurrana, adding that Ajith Kumar would fit as Bogota and Shah Rukh Khan as Berlin.

Rodrigo also went ahead to picks Ranveer Singh and Mahesh Babu as the characters Denver and Tamayo respectively, while opting for Saravanan ‘Suriya’ Sivakumar as Suarez.

Ever since ‘Money Heist’ debuted, the series has received several awards including the ‘Best Drama Series’ category at the 46th International Emmy Awards for attempting to innovate Spanish TV.

It earned critical acclaim for its sophisticated plot, interpersonal dramas, and direction, which caused the Italian anti-fascist song “Bella ciao” to become a summer hit across Europe in 2018.

The film was also deemed the most-watched non-English language series and one of the most-watched series overall on Netflix, resonating with Mediterranean Europe and the Latin viewers.

‘Money Heist’ had become more famous in Nigeria back in 2019 after a group of armed robbers got caught within the Mpape area of Abuja, following a failed operation with a renowned bank.
