In a recent interview on the Honest Bunch Podcast, Ladipo claimed Burna Boy portrays himself as a champion for Africa’s struggles in his music, yet keeps mum on issues related to the continent.

The media personality said she prefers Wizkid and Davido because they “are consistent in their focus” on entertainment.

She also called Burna Boy “fake” and accused him of using Pan-Africanism for international branding.

“Let me tell you what I do not like about Burna Boy, he says he is Pan African, and he cares about the issues of Africa. He does that in his music a lot but when issues come up, the boy is silent,” she said.

“Look at Bob Marley, look at Miriam Makeba, look at Fela Anikulapo Kuti, they use their music and they use their voice. So if you want to profit off the issues of Africa, that is okay but that is not being Pan African.

“That is why I am a big fan of Wizkid and Davido, give me ooh yeah yeah yeah. Do not come and tell me you are for Africa and African issues come up, you are mute. So I am sorry he is a fake! He is using Pan Africanism as a way to sell his brand abroad.”

Ladipo has previously expressed similar displeasure about Burna Boy’s craft.

In 2023, the media personality slammed the Grammy-winning singer for not being vocal about the elections”.

She also described him as a “clown and an opportunist who only uses Nigerian and African issues to promote his music”.

Ladipo is a renowned Nigerian radio host. She is known for her controversial takes on social media.
