The wedding ceremony of Yusuf and Zahra is currently ongoing at the palace of Nasir Ado Bayero, the Emir of Bichi.

Speaking with BBC Pidgin, Abu, who is also attending the event, expressed his delight at the wedding arrangement and high-profile figures gracing the occasion.

He added that the wedding ceremony is a heroic moment in the town’s history, while also describing the day as his best ever.

In March, Yusuf’s family members had visited the family of Ado Bayero to seek the marriage of Zahra.

The lovebirds were said to have met each other in the United Kingdom where the president’s son finished his undergraduate studies.

Zahra is a graduate of architecture from Brighton University in the UK.

In the past few days, the much-awaited union had come under public scrutiny for controversial reasons.

Zahra first came under fire for donning a bridal shower gown that revealed around the shoulder and arms.

Amid the outrage, the Kano state Hisbah board had tackled the president’s in-law for the outfit, stating that such does not reflect the Islamic way of dressing.

The Kano princess was also criticised after she was spotted singing “shebi na national budget, we go blow am like trumpet” alongside her friends during her bridal shower.
