According to BBC Hausa, a source close to the Bichi royal palace said the two families have met to discuss the union.

The source, who did not want to be named, was said to have stated that the president’s party had gone to the family of Ado Bayero, the late Emir of Kano, to seek the marriage of Zarah, who is still in the UK studying architecture.

Although reports earlier claimed that the wedding was initially billed for the “next two to three months”, the source said both families have now agreed to “postpone the ceremony until possibly after fasting or almsgiving”.

It was gathered that Yusuf and Zarah had met each other in the UK where the former finished his undergraduate studies.

On December 27, 2017, Yusuf was involved in a ghastly power bike accident around the Gwarinpa area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, and then flown abroad for treatment.

After the president’s son returned to Nigeria from the medical trip on March 1, 2018, he had remained reclusive.
