Speaking at a gathering to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD), the ‘Jollof On The Jet’ hitmaker advised that it “is okay to say no” when the need arises.

She also listed her failed engagement with Ryan Taylor, the UK boxer, as one of the things she should have turned down.

“One of the things I have learnt is saying no. I had one of the worst years of my life last year because I could not say no. I did not say no to opportunities that I should have said no to,” she said.

“I did not say no to a fiance I should have said no to. I did not say no to taking things on. I was at the BBC, I had a morning breakfast show, then I was djing, I was planning a wedding, I was at Oxford University. I burnt myself out.

“And none of us are either good to ourselves or other people when we burnt out. So, we have to deal with that guilt that comes with saying no. It is okay to say no.”

In December 2022, Cuppy confirmed her relationship with Taylor after a viral video suggested a marriage proposal.

She revealed they got engaged after 25 days of knowing each other.

However, in July 2023, the pair sparked rumours they were no longer together.

Born Florence Otedola, Cuppy later opened up about the failed relationship.
