Born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, and was buried the following day.

The circumstances surrounding his death have continued to stir up controversies.

On September 21, Mohbad’s body was exhumed by the police. An autopsy was carried out that same day after which the police announced that they were awaiting the results.

There were calls for the release of Mohbad’s body for burial, but Aloba kicked against it.

He also requested for a DNA test to be conducted to find out the paternity of Liam, Mohbad’s son with Omowunmi.

In a statement, Aloba’s legal team said a date had been fixed for the hearing of the DNA test application.

The family of the late singer also requested a court order asking Omowunmi to submit herself and her son for the test.

“A date has been fixed for mention of the DNA test application requested by the family of the late ace pop singer, Mr Ilerioluwa Promise Oladimeji Aloba (also known as Mohbad), who died September 12, 2023, in an unusual circumstance,” the statement reads.

“All necessary legal apparatus are (sic) in place to see to the success of the matter. The application is at the Family Court of the Ikorodu Magistrate Court (MKD/31/FAM/2024), Joseph Aloba v Cynthia Omowunmi Aloba.

“The family, represented by the deceased father, is seeking an order of the court directing that a deoxyribonucleic acid test be conducted concerning the paternity of Master Liam Aloba, an alleged son of Mr Ilerioluwa Promise Oladimeji Aloba (deceased), in a recognised and accredited government or private medical facility within Lagos State, Nigeria at the expense of the applicant.”
