Fans are riled up on social media after Davido, Afropop singer, referred to Chioma Avril Rowland, his estranged finance, as “Mama Ify” while wishing her a happy birthday.
Although the couple didn’t speak publicly about what went wrong, photos and videos of Davido and Chioma mingling with their respective opposite sexes had earlier surfaced online in a way that suggested their relationship had gone south.
On Friday, Davido appeared to have stirred up a hornets’ nest when he referred to Chioma as “Mama Ify”, the mother of Ifeanyi — their son together — in place of the lovey-lovey names he once called her.
“All God’s blessings on your birthday today. Make it a great one! Mama Ify @thechefchi,” he wrote on his Instagram Stories.
Fans, however, took to Twitter to air their mixed reactions with some users linking the development to the purported ups and downs in their relationship.
TheCable Lifestyle had earlier reported how Chioma pulled down photos of Davido from her Instagram page.
The incident, which occurred a month ago, came at about the same time when rumour circulated the internet about an affair between the ‘OBO’ crooner and Mya Yafai, American model.
The ‘Fem’ singer met Chioma while he was studying economics at Babcock University.
He had proposed to her in September last year which was followed by a low-key introduction ceremony.
The award-winning singer had also announced plans to tie the knot with Chioma last year but later postponed the wedding to a yet-to-be-revealed date.
On the occasion of Chioma’s 23rd birthday in 2018, Davido had caused a stir on social media when he released a song titled ‘Assurance’ in homage to her.
