The absence of Mr Macaroni from a delegation of Nigerian skit makers that met vice-president Yemi Osinbajo in Abuja has continued to spark a wave of mixed reactions on social media.

On Wednesday, Osinbajo had hosted the delegation who visited him under the aegis of the Nigeria Skits Industry Awards (NSIA) at the presidential villa.

The delegation had included Bimbo Daramola, NSIA’s promoter; Maryam Apaokagi (Taooma), Josh Alfred (Josh2funny), Ayo Ajewole (Woli Agba); Adebamiro Adeyanju (Mr. Hyenana), and Adeoye Adeyemi Elesho (Yemi Elesho).

The event has since become a subject of heated discussion among Nigerians on social media, particularly Twitter.

Most conversations around the visit are based on why Mr Macaroni, whose real name is Debo Adebayo, was not at the occasion.

In the past months, the comedian has been one of the most-talked about entertainers in Nigeria due to his activism and comments on happenings across the country’s socio-political landscape.

The comedian had in August blasted the vice-president while disclosing that he was disappointed in him over his performance in government since 2015.

Some social media users therefore wondered why he was not included among the skit makers that paid Osinbajo a visit.

Mr Macaroni went through hell for the youth. Don’t you know he would also like to meet with the Vice President and shake hands with him? This is disrespectful to him and to all of us @mrmacaronii,” a user wrote.

“If this was such a harmless visit, why didn’t invite Mr Macaroni?” another user asked.

However, some are of the opinion that people should not jump into conclusion since they don’t know what informed his absence.
