In the footage, the Grammy-nominated singer was seen taking a walk with his group of bouncers and aides at a location that appeared to be an event.

A young man who seemed elated to have seen the singer kept shouting Davido’s name. The fan also attempted to get the Afrobeats star to appear in a video he was filming on his phone but was pushed away.

Not satisfied, the relentless fan thereafter went closer to get a good shot with Davido the second time, thereby attracting a heavy slap that pushed him out of the frame.

The incident has triggered a chorus of condemnation on social media platforms, especially X. It also stirred conversations about celebrity-fan interactions and the boundaries.

Reacting to the incident, Mr Macaroni wrote: “This is sad and highly condemnable!!! There is absolutely no need for this assault. This is dehumanizing and I speak against it because I know exactly how this feels. The change that we all seek must begin with us!!!’

The skit maker advised fans against approaching celebrities to take pictures without their permission. He also urged celebrities to treat their fans with respect.

“Please, if you must take pictures with any of your favorite celebrity, kindly seek permission so that you are not seen as a threat. Respect is reciprocal. We must respect the privacy of our celebrities and Celebrities must also learn to treat our fans with respect and dignity,” he wrote.
