The management of Rico Swavey has opened up on the car accident involving the 2018 Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija) housemate.

In a statement via his Twitter page on Wednesday, the reality TV star’s management said he is currently on life support.

Life support refers to the medical procedures adopted to keep someone who is critically ill alive. It is often used when such a person’s vital organs cannot function optimally.

In the statement, Swavey’s team called on the public to pray for him, adding that “his situation is critical”.

“Hello everyone, Rico Swavey is not disposed to handle his socials right now as he was involved in a ghastly accident and is currently on life support. While his situation is critical and doctors are on him, We implore your support and prayers,” the statement reads.

The post was accompanied by a video showing Swavey’s badly damaged car as a result of the accident.

Alex Asogwa, another former BBNaija housemate, who first announced Swavey’s predicament,  had said “doctors are trying to resuscitate him”.

“Please put @iamricoswavey in your prayers today. He was involved in a ghastly accident hours ago and the doctors are still trying to resuscitate him as I just left the hospital. It’s really critical. I’m staying positive,” she had written.

Born Patrick Fakoya, Swavey participated in the 2018 edition of the reality TV show titled ‘Double Wahala’ which was won by Miracle Igbokwe.

BBNaija stars like Tobi Bakre, Leo DaSilva, and Eloswag took to Twitter on Wednesday to appeal to the public for donations.
