Mike Eze-Nwalie Nwogu, a Lagos nightclub owner, has been arrested for putting young ladies on leash.
Several pictures of the socialite known as Pretty Mike and the girls had surfaced on the internet in the past couple of weeks, leading to criticism from various quarters.
Following the public outcry, the Lagos state government ordered Pretty Mike’s arrest on Wednesday.
The socialite has signed an undertaking vowing to no longer continue with the act of dehumanisation.
“I, Mike Eze Nwalie, A.K.A Pretty Mike of 21A Magodo GRA, Luma Street, do hereby undertake to stop whatever act of putting girls on a leash or any other degrading treatment to ladies and guys.
“I am aware that such act offends the law of the State of Lagos and if I repeat it again, there will be legal act towards me. I undertake to issue a letter of apology to the public effective from tomorrow on all my social media platforms,” the undertaking read in part.
Adeniji Kazeem, Lagos commissioner of justice, said the state government will prosecute any individual or group of persons who dehumanise any human.
“The Lagos State Government is committed to the protection of the rights of all citizens including children, women and all the vulnerable persons in the State,” Kazeem said.
Pretty Mike is the owner of Club Uno, a popular nightclub in Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos.
