Last week was eventful in showbiz. TheCable Lifestyle examines the top entertainment stories that got tongues wagging in the past seven days.
HANKS ANUKU BEGS FOR HELP
Last week, Hanks Anuku took to social media to beg Nigerians and Sheriff Oborevwori, the Delta state governor, for financial assistance.
Anuku said despite being a “legend”, he has been finding it difficult to feed and does not have a job.
The film star was in the news in November 2022 after a disturbing video of himself dressed in tattered clothes while roaming the streets surfaced online.
The actor, however, debunked the claim that he was battling mental illness.
DIDDY VS CASSIE
Diddy, the hip-hop icon and the founder of Bad Boy Records, and Cassie, his ex-lover who happens to be a singer, settled their legal case a day after she filed it.
In the lawsuit filed on Thursday, the R&B vocalist alleged that the rapper used drugs and alcohol to gain control over her and keep her trapped in a cycle of abuse.
She claimed that Diddy signed her to Bad Boy Records but rather than fostering her musical career, he subjected her to a life of fear and degradation.
Cassie also alleged that the rapper repeatedly raped and beat her during their 10-year relationship.
PUPA TEE BATTLES KIDNEY ISSUES
The singer revealed that he has been battling kidney problems “for over 20 years” and recently started dialysis treatment.
He said he needs financial assistance for a kidney transplant which he described as the “permanent solution”.
WUNMI TORIOLA SPEAKS ON FAILED MARRIAGE
Toriola got married in 2018 and welcomed her first child — named Zion — a year later.
In January, the movie star confirmed her separation from her partner.
Toriola recently said her marriage ended because her ex-husband always rubbed her fame to her face during arguments.
The single mother of one, however, said her ex-husband remains fully engaged in co-parenting their child — despite their split.
OLADIPS’ ‘STRANGE DEATH’
A statement shared on his social media pages indicated he “battled within himself for over two years before his death” on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old rapper’s purported death, however, sparked curiosity among social media users after his management released his debut album ‘Superhero Adugbo‘ on Thursday.
There are also rumours among his friends and colleagues that he might have “faked his death”.
It remains to be seen if the speculations are true.
CRAYON: BABYFRESH SAVED ME FROM DRUG ADDICTION
The Mavin Records signee said he consumed substances like tramadol and codeine when he was still living in the slums of Ojo in Lagos state.
He said Babyfresh helped him overcome his addiction by removing him from the slum.
SEUN KUTI AIRPORT’S BRAWL
Seun Kuti confronted a man named Solomon Idowu — who allegedly threatened to kill him — at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos state.
In a viral video, Seun was seen engaging in a heated argument with Idowu.
The Afrobeat star was also seen hindering the man from presenting his passport for boarding a plane to the US.
In his response, Idowu threatened to take severe action against the singer.
The Afrobeat singer insisted Idowu was not going back until they settled their case in Nigeria.
The pair would later settle their differences after Seun appeared to have made Idowu promise that nothing would happen to him if he ever found himself in Chicago in the USA.
SNOOP DOGG QUITS SMOKING
The rapper said he is “giving up smoke” after much consideration.
The 52-year-old actor said he made the decision after having multiple conversations with his family.
“After much consideration and conversation with my family, I have decided to give up smoke,” he said.
