Obi Asika, the Nigerian showbiz executive, has bagged an honorary doctorate degree in arts.
Asika earned the degree at the Myles Leadership University in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
He took to his Instagram page on Saturday to share a video from the award event.
In the post, he disclosed he is recognised for his work “as an ecosystem builder and pioneer in the digital, entertainment, and creative industries over the last three decades.”
He appreciated the varsity for honoring him with the award which he described as a “wonderful surprise”.
Asika dedicated the award to his late parents while appreciating his wife, sisters, friends, and family for support.
He further disclosed and congratulated other celebrities who received the award.
They include Kafayat ‘Kaffy’ Shafau, Ajoke Silva, Darey Art Alade, and his wife.
Others include DJ Jimmy Jatt, Kinsley Okonkwo, and Naomi Silekunola, Ooni of Ife ex-wife.
“I was privileged to receive an honorary Ph.D. (Doctor of arts) from @mylesuniversity for my work as an ecosystem builder and pioneer in the digital, entertainment, and creative industries over the last three decades,” he said.
“This was a wonderful surprise and I’m delighted to receive this honor. As a lifelong supporter of arts, I’m thankful for the recognition and also want to congratulate other awardees.
“In this journey, I’m nothing without my support system. So I remember my late parents who would have loved this, thanks to my sisters, my own internal prayer warrior and my friends and family.
“Of course to my wife, for being there all these years and letting me do what I do, and my inspiration Nuli. I’m humbled as I never do anything for awards but I realised that one must celebrate the good days always.
“Thank you to everybody who made this happen and just gave me a shot of positive energy to do more. How does Dr Obi Asika sounds.”
