The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Gombe has arrested 46 suspects at local nightclubs, fondly called Gidan Gala.

The arrest came at about the same time when Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the Gombe governor, ordered the closure of nightclubs in the state.

The suspects, who were paraded on Tuesday, include 32 females and 14 males.

“The suspects were found wanting for perpetrating immoral and criminal acts in these Gidan Gala,” said Mu’azu Sa’ad, the NSCDC state spokesperson.

“The suspects were arrested at Sabon Gida BCGA, Jamiyar Gadan Gala at New Mile 6, while others were arrested at Gidan Wasa/Gidan Drama at New Mile 3, and others were arrested at Liji, along Kalshingi Road.”

He added that the command has communicated the development to some of the parents of the suspects.

The NSCDC state public relations officer also disclosed that the suspect would soon be arraigned in court.

The Yahaya-led administration earlier said the closures became imperative following an increase in “immoral and unholy acts” by youths.

A statement signed by Ibrahim Njodi, secretary to the state government, revealed that there have been a series of complaints from the general public on the incessant criminal activities and security breaches perpetrated in such nightclubs.
