The First Features project, a film collaboration between  Michelangelo Productions and Native Filmworks, has screened the drama ‘Love and Life’ ahead of a December 29 Prime Video debut.

The exclusive event, held at the Ebonylife Place in Victoria Island, hosted some of Nollywood’s biggest names.

It served to unveil the film telling a story around the depths of relationships and the resilience of the human spirit.

The First Features project, TheCable earlier reported, is providing training, mentorship, and funding for the production of debut feature films by emerging voices within the Nigerian film industry.

‘Love and Life’ is a story portraying life’s complexities in the experiences of a heartbroken recent widow, the nuances of a troubled marriage, and the emotional rollercoaster of an uncertain romance. 

Among those who starred in the film project are Rita Dominic who is the lead character, Chidi Mokeme, Michelle Dede, Bassey Ekpo, Anthony Monjaro, Ray Adeka, Miracle Iyanda, Miwa Olorunfemi, and Nse Ikpe-Etim.

‘Love and Life’ is executive-produced by Steve Gukas and Dotun Olakunri.

The project is directed by Reuben Reng on a script by Brenda Ogbuka-Garuba.

Dotun Olakunri, while speaking at the screening, said the ambition for the project was to produce cinematic work that resonates with viewers on an emotional level.

“With ‘Love and Life’, we’ve moved closer to this goal. This film is about grief, life, challenges you face daily, and how you use friendship and sorority to tackle those problems,” he said.

Ruben Reng said ‘Love and Life’ captures the essence of hope and friendship.

Steve Gukas, co-founder of the First Features project, argued at the screening that the film is more than a narrative.

“It’s a reflection of our mission to bring forward new, compelling voices in Nigerian cinema. ‘Love and Life’ is a testament to this vision, and I am proud of how Reuben Reng brought it to life,” the filmmaker added.
