In June 2019, TheCable Lifestyle had reported how the spotlight beamed on the Lagos NURTW chairman after a photo of his honorary visit to the state of Atlanta, Georgia in the United States went viral.

Oluomo also attracted criticism last year after he was billed to speak at a social event at the University of Lagos (UNILAG). The varsity would later deny approving any banner with him as a guest.
