The spotlight had earlier beamed on the pair after reports swirled in some quarters that they had parted ways.
The development had come amid claims that Rodriguez was having an affair with Madison LeCroy, a South Carolina movie star.
The pair, however, dismissed the reports in a short statement at the time, explaining that “we are working through some things.”
But in a joint statement to NBC’s ‘TODAY’ on Thursday, the duo said they “have realised that we’re better as friends.”
They, however, pledged to keep supporting each other even after the split. They also appreciated each other for the beautiful memories they had shared together.
“We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects,” the statement read.
“We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”
The movie star, 51, and the ex-baseball shortstop, 45, met in 2017 and started dating thereafter with A-Rod engaging the actress in March 2019.
Before their eventual breakup, they had postponed their wedding on two occasions, citing the coronavirus pandemic
