Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), says he’ll deliver the world to Jesus Christ in less than five years if he had a thousand men like Tony Rapu at his disposal.
Rapu, a pastor and self-acclaimed social reformer, has been in the news in recent times after he rescued a 26-year-old Lagos drug addict and later claimed there’s nothing wrong in undergoing plastic surgery as “the Bible never condemned it”.
On Friday, he took to his Instagram handle to share a clip of Adeboye singing his praises during a church service while speaking of how he had come up with the idea of splitting one of RCCG’s congregations to form four new parishes.
“Let me use this opportunity to salute a great man of God by the name Tony Rapu. I’ve said it before, I’m saying it now again publicly so it can be put on record. Tony is a man of awesome potential, intelligent, articulate and a man in love with God,” Adeboye had said in the undated video.
“You share a vision with him, he’ll amplify it. I went abroad and I came to the airport. Tony came to meet me and said, ‘Daddy, we’re waiting for your approval but we’ve decided to divide our present congregation into four to form four new parishes unless you say no.
“I smiled and said, ‘My son, I say yes.’ One Sunday, we gathered together as one, another Sunday, we were in four new parishes. If I have a thousand boys like Tony Rapu, I’ll deliver the world to Jesus Christ in less than five years. Tony is unique.”
While speaking recently about plastic surgeries, Rapu, who doubles as a doctor, had defended women who undergo the procedure to correct perceived deformities in their body that stifles healthy living.
“The Bible is silent about plastic surgery. If a person is very conscious about a deformity or physical aspect of his or her body that is causing them some emotional discomfort, then cosmetic surgery is certainly an option,” he had said.
