Teniola Apata, Nigerian singer better known as Teni the entertainer, surely has a flair for making comical skits and videos that have endeared her to her fans but her latest video has got Nigerians talking on Twitter.
In the video, Teni insults a foreigner in her native dialect (Yoruba) after asking him for directions to the houses of Chris Brown and Puff Daddy.
Although she later disclosed the foreigner is her friend and university mate, Nigerians didn’t hesitate to register their opinions regardless.
“How can he say he doesn’t know my own Kanye West. Me and him have been having this argument for over 5years. He must like Kanye. It is by force. He’s my friend btw. We went to Uni together,” she wrote on Twitter.
Here is what they had to say:
So y'all really find it funny that Teni goes around making stupid videos of herself insulting Foreigners. But once you talk about her obesity and childish lyrics you automatically become a hater. Lmao we go all dey alright. https://t.co/ehEoPSfDy1

I love Teni, but cursing someone because they don't understand your language isn't good enough. You can be funny without using curse words. Let's be honest.

Teni actually meant no harm, but it’s wrong to use whimsical light-hearted Yoruba insults on a non Yoruba speaking person.
That said, you’re a disgusting grief-stricken human being if you’re hopping on her mistake to body-shame her. Grow tf up!

Pause a minute, you suddenly think it's wrong for Teni to insult foreigners cos they don't understand the language when y'all do that all the time here?

Teni the Entertainer made a whole ass song promoting counterfeit and fraud (Fake Jersey)
She associated her self with Lagos' prime thug and political criminal (MC Oluomo)
She repeatedly picks on unassuming strangers and insults them in Yoruba, because they can't understand

Teni should realise she isn't a comedian, she should stick to music.

That Teni’s video isn’t funny ngl, let’s forget the love we have for her and face the truth, you shouldn’t insult people with your native language and call it fun.
— Fine Wine 🦋 (@Annabelle_odeh) March 2, 2019
Teni should stop going around making those stupid videos. It's not fun again abeg .
— Physioniyi (@physioniyii) March 2, 2019
