Jonathan Majors, the US actor, was arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman in New York.

TMZ reports that the movie star was taken in on Saturday after a 911 call came from an apartment in Chelsea.

It is understood that police sources said Majors was involved in a “domestic dispute” with a 30-year-old woman. 

The Hollywood actor, it is gathered, later regained his freedom on Saturday night while looking to clear his name.

Major’s relationship with the victim, whose name was not immediately disclosed, was described as “domestic”.

“The victim informed police she was assaulted. Officers placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident,” a New York Police Department (NYPD) source was quoted as saying. 

“The actor was arrested on charges of strangulation, assault, and harassment.

“The woman sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.”

A spokesperson of Jonathan Majors told Hollywood Reporter that film personality did “nothing wrong”.

“He has done nothing wrong. We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up,” the source stated.

Majors rose to prominence in 2019 after starring in the feature film ‘The Last Black Man in San Francisco’.

In 2020, he starred alongside the late Chadwick Boseman in ‘Da 5 Bloods’, a Netflix original. 

Majors also acted in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ and alongside Michael B. Jordan in ‘Creed III’.
