On Thursday, the ministry released a statement directing all entertainers to seek written approval from the ministry before hosting/organising entertainment events.

It further advised owners of hospitality venues to seek permission before admitting such events in their facilities.

In a video post on her Instagram page, the Rivers indigene said the ministry will never get legal backing for the directive.

“International agencies say that Nigeria’s biggest economy is entertainment and not oil. Rivers state is looking for ways to revamp her economy and her people, and you are being so ridiculous and stupid.

“Get this straight, for you to be able to what is contained in that silly note of yours, you will need the law, you don’t have it and you will never get it. We will ensure that it does not happen.

“There is no way entertainers will come to anyone for permission to practice and host shows.

“How do you think we build young people and the economy?” asked the veteran actress.

Dokubo added: “The Ministry of Culture and Tourism finds an ingenious way of stifling innovation and creativity in Rivers State that will encourage touts and thieves to extort money from genuine hard working and honest citizens.

“We must fight back to save the entertainment industry, practitioners and her entrepreneurs.”
