Damilola Adeparusi, the Nigerian chef, has finally completed her 120-hour cooking marathon attempt.
The Ekiti-based announced this via her Twitter page in the early hours of Wednesday.
“120hrs done! I want to appreciate you all for your support emotionally, financially, physically & spiritually… If not for you guys I wouldn’t be able to achieve this,” she wrote.
However, the Guinness World Records (GWR) is yet to acknowledge her attempt to break the world cooking record.
It remains to be seen if Chef Dami sought the request of the organisation before embarking on the attempt.
The development comes hours after the GWR officially certified Hilda Baci as holder of the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
Adeparusi commenced her cooking marathon on June 9 and became a viral sensation ever since then.
Her cooking marathon had also attracted different reactions from social media users.
While some users commended her courage, others lambasted her for alleged plan to “undermine” Baci’s 93-hour record.
Ruth Kadiri, the actress, earlier took a swipe at her for not waiting for Baci’s euphoria to settle.
Ugezu J. Ugezu, the filmmaker, also described Adeparusi’s attempt as “an act of wickedness”.
But Yemi Oyebanji, the first lady of Ekiti state, applauded the chef and described her efforts as a show of determination and courage.
On Tuesday, Abayomi Fashina, the vice-chancellor of Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), also visited the chef to show his support.
