On Friday, an Ekiti-based chef named Damilola Adeparusi commenced a 120-hour cooking marathon.

This was after Baci, who has been receiving public acclaim, pulled off a 100-hour attempt to oust her predecessor.

Baci challenged the world record of 87 hours 45 minutes previously set by Lata Tondon, an Indian chef, in 2019.

Baci is yet to be vetted by the Guinness World Record (GWR) but some others have been giving the record a shot.

Among these rivals is Adeparusi whom Kadiri criticised for wanting to oust Baci, hot on the heels of her attempt.

Ruth Kadiri took to Instagram, after Adeparusi’s attempt became public knowledge, to register her displeasure.

She claimed Nigerians only realise they are capable of doing something only after someone else has done it.

“They won’t think for themselves. The moment you do it, everyone starts realizing they can do it too,” Kadiri said.

“They can’t even wait for her euphoria to settle. Meet Nigerians, my people.”

The GWR team said it is looking to first assess Hilda Baci’s attempt before officially confirming the record.

It remains to be seen whether a GWR representative is monitoring Adeparusi’s ongoing cooking marathon.
