Chinko Ekun, the Nigerian rapper, has cautioned a Twitter user who “body-shamed” him to understand that such a remark can lead to depression.

On Tuesday, the Twitter user said the rapper is now “fat like an elephant.”

“Chinko Ekun no be Tiger, the wayre just fat like elephant,” the user wrote.

In his response, Ekun said he has lost some weight but sarcastically thanked the user for the “inappropriate comment”.

The rapper also admonished the user, adding that other people might not take the statement lightly.

“I don slim down sha but no worry when you self taste money u go understand,” he wrote.

“Thanks for body shaming 🙌 but don’t do it to others cos they fit enter depression! Love and small light.”

Born Oladipo Emmanuel, Ekun was signed to YBNL, the record label owned by Olamide, in 2015. He has since left the music label.

The singer gained widespread popularity in 2018 after he put out ‘Able God’ featuring Zlatan Ibile and Lil Kesh.

Last year, the rapper narrated how he became homeless and depressed in 2020 after the management of an unnamed label reclaimed the house, cars, and other properties given to him.

The rapper said he contemplated suicide at a point when he visited Elegushi Beach.

“Due to the trauma, I relocated to the mainland where I was squatting with some of my friends,” he had said.

“Then I was depressed and almost sleeping on the floor. I landed in the hospital, everything that mattered to me was crumbling.”

He is currently signed to Dek-Niyor Entertainment, a Dubai-based label.
