Asake, the Nigerian singer, has snagged a spot on the Billboard 200 album chart with his debut album titled ‘Mr. Money With The Vibe‘.

The celebrity magazine announced the singer’s feat in its latest update on Twitter.

Asake’s project takes the number 66th spot on the chart, which examines the 200 most popular music albums and extended plays (EPs) in the United States.

With the feat, the musician joins the list of Nigerian artistes who have debuted on the chart. They include Fireboy, Wizkid, Burnaboy, Ckay, and Davido.

It is understood that the development makes Asake the first Afrobeats artiste to crack the chart with a debut album.

‘MMWTV’ is also said to be the fourth highest-ever charting Nigerian album after Burna Boy’s ‘Love, Damini’ which debuted at number 18, Wizkid’s ‘Made In Lagos’ which debuted at 28, and ‘Twice As Tall’ which debuted at 54.

Since its release, ‘MMWTV’ has received critical acclaim from fans in Nigeria and across the world.

The project once occupied the first 12 spots on Apple Music’s top 100 chart in Nigeria.

Asake’s musical career got into the mainstream in 2020 when he released a freestyle titled ‘Mr. Money.

The 27-year-old has teamed up with a plethora of Nigerian music heavyweights such as Burna Boy, Fireboy, and DJ Spinall.

The singer is a graduate of theatre and performing arts at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).
