The management of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Adamawa office, on Thursday, said one corps member will repeat the one-year compulsory service for abscondment.

Muhammed Abubakar,  the NYSC coordinator in Adamawa, confirmed the development during passing out parade of 2018 batch ‘B’ stream II corps members in Yola.

Abubakar said that the affected member would repeat the year as punishment for staying away from the place of primary assignment for three months.

“We are experiencing another day of joy for witnessing the completion of one-year compulsory national service by our corps members,” he said on Thursday.

“The state office of NYSC received and registered 2,017 corps members for 2018 batch ‘‘B” stream two.

“Out of the number, 253 passed out but one person will repeat the service year due to three months abscondment.”

He advised the former corps members to use the experiences they gathered during the year for nation-building.

Davido, a Nigerian artiste, recently revealed that his service year was cancelled by the scheme.

The artiste, who said he registered for the compulsory one-year scheme to tie up all loose ends, did not provide details as to why the scheme cancelled his service year.
