Selena Gomez, the American singer, has expressed gratitude to Rema, the Afrobeats star, for the opportunity to feature on the global hit ‘Calm Down‘.

In February 2022, Rema put out ‘Calm Down’ as a single off ‘Rave and Roses’, his debut album.

A few months later, the Nigerian teamed up with Gomez for the remix of the chart-topping song.

In a message of appreciation to Rema, Gomez said featuring on Calm Down changed her life forever.

The 30-year-old US songstress, who has 450 million Instagram followers, also expressed ceaseless love for Rema, 23.

“This man has changed my life forever,” she wrote on Instagram.

“Rema, thank you for choosing me to be apart of one of the biggest songs in the world. Love you forever. @heisrema”.

Responding, Rema, in a terse post, wrote: “Love you too Queen”.

Since its release in August 2022, ‘Calm Down’ has continued to rake in millions of streams globally.

The song’s remix retained its number 4 spot on Billboard’s global top 200 songs for June 2023.

It also stands at number 7 on Billboard’s global exclusive US top 10 for July 1 chart release.

‘Calm Down’ has spent over 40 weeks on the chart and also holds the record for the longest-charting African song on Billboard Hot 100.

The song went platinum in the UK on March 3.

On April 11, it became the second longest-charting no 1 African song in India.

As of July 2, the ‘Calm Down’ remix has raked in over 493 million views on YouTube, making it the most-viewed Nigerian music video.
