In a now-viral video, the lady, whose name is unknown, could be captured standing on the highway with some police officers.

In the footage, she is seen crying and bleeding. A witness at the scene could also be heard asking if there was a nearby pharmacy where she could receive treatment.

The student narrated how she was traveling to Sokoto when police officers at a checkpoint on the highway stopped their vehicle.

She claimed one of the officers called her a “prostitute” and threatened to break her head when she could not prove her identity.

She also alleged that the police “intentionally hit me on my head with a stick” after “threatening to kill me”.

“I was traveling to Sokoto for my NIN. I wanted to go before we finish the semester so that I can do my NIN and use it for my service,” she said.

“On getting to the checkpoint, the police stopped our vehicle and the driver stopped. I put EarPods in my ears because I was watching a movie on my phone.

“He came to meet me to ask which indigene I am from. I told him where I was coming from and that I was a student. He insisted on knowing where I was from but I asked him why he wanted to know.

“I later found that a lecturer in a state university was inside the vehicle with me. It was the lecturer who filmed me. The police told me to step out and said he would break my head.

“He asked for my school ID card and I told him that I don’t have it because it has not been issued to us. He asked for my NIN and I told him that is what I’m going to Sokoto to do and that I don’t have NIN for now.

“He then called me a prostitute. The lecturer came out to confront the officer and asked him why he was calling me a prostitute and that my dressing was decent.

“The officers came to beg us to go inside the vehicle and as I tried to enter inside, he hit me on my head. I know he did it intentionally because he had already threatened to kill me or break my head.”
