WIZKID, DAVIDO FIGHT DIRTY ON X
The music heavyweights engaged in a war of words on social media last week after Wizkid mocked Davido and Don Jazzy, the Mavin Records head honcho.
Wizkid called Don Jazzy an “influencer” while taunting Davido with a video of him on his knees, pleading and crying.
Davido also retaliated, labeling Wizkid’s career as “dead”.
Wizkid’s posts attracted criticism from a segment of social media users, including celebrities.
SHAN GEORGE CRIES OUT OVER ‘FRAUDULENT’ WITHDRAWAL OF N3.5M FROM ACCOUNT
Last week, Shan George, the actress, lamented that her “life savings of N3.6 million” were stolen from her bank account.
The 54-year-old filmmaker pleaded with bank authorities to reverse the money, adding that she did not authorise the transaction.
“Cecilia Okoro is the name of the person that has just wiped all the money in my account, N3.6 million into an OPay account,” she said.
“I’m begging everyone to help me. Please Zenith Bank, OPay, MTN please help. I don’t have any Kobo anywhere again. What do I eat?
“I’m begging all the authorities that can help. It just happened today 3rd of May. Please help me reverse the money.
“That is everything that I have in my whole life. I don’t have food in my house to eat. Please reverse the money, I did not authorise it.”
SINGER GNEWZY FREEDOM AFTER ABDUCTION
Goodnews ‘Gnewzy’ Emuemu, the fast-rising singer who was abducted last week Monday, was released on Sunday after spending six days in captivity.
Gnewzy was abducted along Eklat road in Ughelli, Delta state while heading home from a show.
Eric Many Records, the artiste’s music label, confirmed the abduction.
The abductors were said to have contacted Dilly Umenyiora, the record label’s CEO, demanding a $200,000 ransom.
Umenyiora, however, issued a statement confirming that the abducted singer had regained freedom and is receiving medical care.
TENI CRITICISED FOR PROSTRATING BEFORE IBD DENDE
Teni, the Nigerian singer, was criticised for her gesture towards Ibrahim Egungbohun, the businessman fondly called IBD Dende.
The songstress recently boarded the same aircraft with IBD Dende.
Upon seeing IBD Dende, Teni prostrated before the socialite to show respect. The video of their meeting, however, stirred backlash on X where several users accused the singer of “hypocrisy”.
Some users also revisited the incident that took place in October 2022 when Teni was conferred with the member order of the Niger (MON) award at the National Honours Award ceremony.
The singer walked towards Muhammadu Buhari, the then president, and collected her award without any form of genuflection or handshake.
Some social media users had criticised her over what they described as her “discourteous demeanour” before the president.
Teni, however, clarified her gesture towards IBD Dende.
BURNA BOY CANCELS NETHERLANDS CONCERT OVER ‘CONTRACT BREACH’
Burna Boy, the Afro-fusion singer, called off his highly anticipated concert in the Netherlands.
The singer was scheduled to perform at the Johan Cruyff Arena Stadium on June 9.
But on Thursday, Burna Boy said the concert was cancelled because the organisers “failed to meet their contractual obligations”.
He also apologised to his fans and confirmed that all tickets would be refunded within 30 days.
‘NAIRA ABUSE’: EFCC, CUBANA CHIEF PRIEST TO SETTLE OUT OF COURT
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Cubana Chief Priest have agreed to an out-of-court settlement for the naira abuse case against the nightlife promoter.
Chikaosolu Ojukwu, the defendant’s lawyer, last Thursday, told Kehinde Ogundare, the Lagos high court judge, that they are applying that the matter be settled according to the provisions of section 14(2) of the EFCC Act.
Bilikisu Buhari, the EFCC prosecutor, also confirmed Ojukwu’s position and told the court that the anti-graft agency was still considering the application.
Ojukwu thereafter applied for a withdrawal of the preliminary objection with no objections from the prosecution.
The court subsequently granted the request and the case was adjourned to June 5 for the hearing of the settlement report.
YINKA QUADRI, OGOGO SETTLE FEUD
Yinka Quadri and Taiwo ‘Ogogo’ Hassan, the Yoruba actors, have reconciled after years of fighting.
The actors ended their years-long rift at the housewarming and birthday party of Yomi Fabiyi, another Yoruba actor, in Abeokuta, Ogun state.
While performing at the event, Sulaiman Ajobiewe, the chanter, urged the actors to settle their differences regardless of who was at fault.
The two movie stars thereafter hugged each other.
SOLA SOBOWALE REVISITS DRUG TRAFFICKING RUMOUR
Sola Sobowale, the Nigerian actress, revisited the rumours surrounding her alleged arrest for drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia.
The 58-year-old film star recalled how several negative reports were published about her in Nigeria after she relocated to the United Kingdom to do menial jobs.
The actress said one of such reports was that she was killed in Saudi Arabia for drug trafficking.
She said lots of people were shocked to see her alive when she decided to return to Nigeria.
Sobowale also said some people who knew her were surprised that she left acting in Nigeria to work as a carer in the UK.
IN-LAWS OF WOFAI FADA REJECT SON’S MARRIAGE TO ACTRESS
The family of Taiwo Cole, husband of Wofai Fada, the actress, have distanced themselves from the couple’s union.
There was controversy after videos from the couple’s wedding ceremony in Cross River, Calabar started circulating on social media.
Taiwo’s family released a disclaimer stating that they were unaware of the marriage and did not support the union.
