Photos of a battered-looking Mercy Aigbe-Gentry recently surfaced on blogs and social media, prompting many to say she was a victim of domestic violence.

Many saw the recent anti-domestic violence post of the actress on Instagram as an indication.

“Say NO to DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. Only a Coward hits a woman! REAL MEN don’t HIT! Repost if you concur,” she wrote.

The Instagram post coincided with the release of the now-viral pictures on the internet.

Husband, Lanre Gentry, is allegedly responsible for her injuries but despite the furore and raging debate over the incident, neither of them has said anything.

Both parties have also failed to respond to correspondence sent to them.

The lack of reaction from both camps has given life to series of speculation on social media.

According to a section of the grapevine, the actress has been suffering domestic abuse for years and has finally had enough.

Some reports have it that she was beaten so badly that it led to her hospitalisation.

Meanwhile, several screenshots of supposed conversations with Lanre Gentry have also surfaced on the internet.

In the screenshots, he is seen denying the widespread allegations that he is a wife beater.

The businessman on Saturday put up a picture of himself and Mercy Aigbe on Instagram.

“I love my wife so much,” was his simple caption.

This is not the first time Gentry has been accused of acting in a violent manner towards the actress.

In 2013, he was alleged to have dragged her out of a hotel room and into his car, having caught her in a compromising situation.

Husband and wife denied the reports in a video posted on YouTube.
