Alex Iwobi, the Super Eagles midfielder, has shared a snippet of his unreleased rap song on his social media pages.

The 27-year-old footballer showed off his rapping skills in the short clip uploaded on his X account on Sunday evening.

In the one-and-a-half-minute video, Iwobi’s voice flows with ease over the UK Drill instrumental as a montage of the player’s on-pitch action rolls in the background.

“Never thought I’ll make it/ Now when I step in I be recognised by faces/ Invitations, I be going to different places,” the Fulham player begins.

Following Nigeria’s defeat to Cote d’Ivoire in the final of the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), many fans on social media singled out Iwobi for criticism over his performance.

He was targeted by trolls on social media who accused him of putting out a poor performance at the tournament.

The backlash culminated in Iwobi deleting almost all his Instagram posts.

Addressing the trolls in the song, the midfielders said he cared little about their behaviours and “couldn’t give a damn”.

“Expressive with my socials/ I couldn’t give a damn if they treat me like I’m disposal,” Iwobi raps.

“They said I wasn’t good enough/ They saying to my parents that I’m not so tough/ ‘Bout to get released, I thought everything was rough/ Make it to the first team like damn ‘that was just my luck'”
