Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, 27, passed away on Tuesday and was laid to rest on Wednesday.

Shortly after his death, an old video surfaced on social media showing the singer being chased away from a music video shoot with Zlatan, the rapper.

In the footage, Sam Larry and some men visited the scene of the shoot and demanded that Mohbad be sent out.

It took the intervention of Zlatan to ensure Mohbad was not hit with what appeared to be a stick from Larry.

A copy of the petition filed by the late singer against Larry alleging threat to his life and damage of property also surfaced on social media on Thursday.

In the petition, Mohbad alleged that about fifteen persons “led by Sam Larry Elegushi invaded the premises with dangerous arms such as guns and cutlasses” to disrupt his shoot.

The singer said he was allegedly attacked on June 25, 2023.

In the petition, dated June 27, 2023, and addressed to the assistant inspector-general of police, force criminal investigation department annex, Lagos, Mohbad said during the assault, “they were boasting that they work for Oba Elegushi and that they have been asked to deal with me”.

“PETITION OF THREAT TO LIFE, MALICIOUS DAMAGE OF PROPERTIES VALUED THE SUM OF FIVE MILLION NAIRA, ASSAULT OCCASIONING HARM, OPPRESSION AND CONDUCT LIKELY TO CAUSE BREACH OF PEACE AGAINST SAM LARRY ELEGUSHI, ELELE, OBELE AND OTHERS,” the petition reads.

Elegushi disowns Sam Larry, calls for probe into Mohbad's death

But according to PUNCH, Oluniyi Ogundeyi, the spokesperson for FCID annex, Lagos, said the police could not act on the petition due to Mohbad’s refusal to show up and defend his petition.

He also said the counsels for Sam Larry and the other suspects filed a counter-petition accusing Mohbad of defaming them.

Ogundeyi added that they asked Mohbad to provide evidence to support his allegations — but he failed to honour their invitation.

“We received the petition and followed up on the information provided in the petition, and the suspects were invited,” he said.

“But Mohbad refused to show up to defend his petition and also provide evidence to assist the police in carrying out a proper investigation and forward the matter to the legal department for prosecution, if necessary.
