Spyro, the Nigerian singer, has responded to the criticism trailing his performance of the hit song ‘Only Fine Girl’ in Harvesters International Christian Center, a church in Lagos.

The church had organised a carol service called Fantasia on Sunday.

Celebrities like Daniel Effiong, Bisola Ayeola, Dorathy Bachor, Sharon Ooja, and Uzor Arukwe were featured on the event flyer, which specified “no ticket, no entry”.

A viral video of Spyro’s performance sparked social media reactions, with users questioning its appropriateness in a church setting.

“Is this proper to sing in a church? I like Pastor B o but I do not know what to say about this,” a user wrote.

“This #Spyro singing drama isn’t the main issue. #PastorB is the celebrity pastor for every celebrity & BBN alumni & he celebrates their lifestyles;#Tbaj was brought on the altar to give testimony of her podcast where she discusses her Pu*sy.#Harvesters,” another user wrote.

In response, Spyro said he is an active member of the church and serves in two departments.

He said the carol service was open to everyone and tickets were not sold as speculated online.

He added that his status of being a celebrity should not deter him from participating in church activities.

“I have been a member of Harvesters for well over 7 years, and I serve in two departments,” he said.

“The clip making rounds on social media is off a drama I took part in at our annual carol service called Fantasia

“The carol was completely free for all. The tickets were free!

“Because I am a celebrity does not make me human?? I can serve God like the rest of you.

“So pls understand that I am Human, a Christian and I serve in a real church.”
