Richard Hawk, a US rapper better known as Silento, has been arrested and charged with murder.

The 23-year-old singer was arrested on Monday for allegedly gunning down Frederick Rooks in the south-eastern suburbs of Atlanta.

It is understood that Silento was remanded at the DeKalb County jail after the DeKalb County Police Department (DKPD) identified him as the deceased’s cousin and the person found to have been responsible for Rooks’ murder.

In a short statement on its verified Twitter page, the DKPD said they found Rooks shot and was pronounced dead at the scene on January 21. It added that Silento had been arrested and charged with murder.

Silentó has had a history of legal trouble. In August 2020, he was arrested following a domestic disturbance. After being charged with inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, the Atlanta musician was later released.

Subsequently, he was arrested in Valley Village, Los Angeles after walking into a random home wielding a hatchet while looking for his girlfriend. Silentó would later be arrested yet again on October 23, 2020.

Police charged him with speeding and reckless driving, alleging that he had gone 143 mph on Interstate 85.
