Organisers of the 16th Headies have announced that the winner of this year’s ‘Rookie of the Year’ category will get a fully furnished house.

The organisers broke the news at an event held in Lagos on Friday ahead of this year’s edition scheduled for September 3, 2023.

The award ceremony is also expected to hold in Atlanta, United States, for the second consecutive year.

The award organisers added that this year’s headline sponsor will facilitate the “two-bedroom, fully-furnished apartment for the winner of the award”.

Bayanni, Khaid, and Odumodublvck will be battling for the 2023 Headies ‘Rookie of The Year’ category.

Other artistes in the category include Eltee Skhiliz, Guchi, and Bloody Civilian.

The nomination list for this year’s award ceremony was released on July 12, with Burna Boy securing the highest number of entries.

The ‘Twice As Tall’ hitmaker bagged 11 nominations while Asake followed closely behind with eight nods.

Ayra Starr will go head-to-head with Tems, Tiwa Savage and Simi for the ‘Best Female Artiste’ category while Asake, Victony, Young Jonn and Seyi Vibez will compete for the ‘Next Rated’ category.

“Only music materials including singles, videos, EPs and Albums released and distributed on digital streaming platforms within the year in review (January 2022 and March 2023) were considered for nomination,” the award organisers said.
