Pat Nebo, the award-winning Nigerian production designer and art director, has passed on.

Shaibu Husseini, the movie journalist and juror at the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), announced Nebo’s demise in a post on his X account on Thursday.

The ace production designer was said to have been bedridden due to a protracted illness before he eventually passed away.

“I have been reliably informed that foremost Nigerian Production Designer Pat Nebo has passed on. He has been bedridden for a while now. Journey well Master of the Craft of film production design,” Husseini wrote.

Nebo was popular for his ability to create dated sets and retros to near perfection.

He also earned credits for the production design of films like Kunle Afolayan’s ‘Figurine’ and ‘October 1’; Izu Ojukwu’s ’76 which won him an AMAA award in 2017 and ‘The Milkmaid’.

He also worked as the art director for ‘The Figurine’, ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’, and ‘Phone Swap’.
