Cindy Amadi, the Nigerian actress better known for her role in the lesbian-themed movie titled ‘Ife’, is dead.

The movie producers announced Amadi’s demise in an Instagram post on Thursday.

“We are deeply and unbelievably saddened to learn about the passing of the actress Cindy Amadi, who played Adaora in #ìféthemovie,” the post reads.

“We cannot begin to imagine the pain and loss her family feels right now. On behalf of our entire cast and crew, we wish her family all the comfort they need at this time.

“Rest in Peace, Cindy. You will always live on in our hearts forever. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.”

The cause of Amadi’s death was however not revealed in the post.

Amadi featured in the lesbian movie alongside MTV Shuga’s Uzomaka Aniunoh.

‘Ife,’ which means “love” in the Yoruba language, was directed by Nyaiedu Ikpe-Etim, the sister of actress Nse Ikpe-Etim.

The film was released in July 2020. One of the highlights of the movie was when the two women were seen naked and lying in bed, stroking each other’s hair and sharing various individual experiences about their conservative backgrounds.

The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) in August 2020 warned of the film’s release in Nigeria.
