Ahead of the 2022 gubernatorial election in Osun state, Davido and Portable have publicly taken sides with the two major political parties.
The Osun election is scheduled to hold on Saturday.
It will see Gboyega Oyetola, the state governor and candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), slug it out with Ademola Adeleke, Davido’s uncle who is the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Others aspirants include Lasun Yusuf of Labour Party (LP), Akin Ogunbiyi of Accord party, and Goke Omigbodun of Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The ‘Stand Strong’ singer has been very vocal about his uncle’s political ambition.
On Wednesday, the ‘OBO’ crooner arrived Osun in company of his convoy as a tumultuous crowd cheered him up while drumming support for his uncle.
In a viral video on Thursday, Davido, who hails from Ede, is seen wearing a crested agbada and a cap as he moves with the crowd of supporters.

The outfit bears a Yoruba inscription — ‘imole lokan’ — which loosely translates in English to “it’s the turn of light”.
On Instagram, Davido wrote: “No intimidation, no violence, no retreat, no surrender. Imolede Osunguber2022, Awalokan.”
Davido’s campaign for his uncle is coming at about the same time when Portable threw his weight behind Oyetola.
On Wednesday, the ‘Zazoo Zeh’ crooner paid the state governor a visit during which he backed his re-election bid.
During his meeting with Oyetola in Osogbo, the state capital, Portable also endorsed Tinubu, while asking his followers to vote for the two politicians.
He also flaunted the cash he received from the ruling party.
Amid criticism from a segment of his fans, the singer said he was paid by APC to publicly support Oyetola and Tinubu.
The ‘Ogo Forever’ singer, who hails from Ogun, also fired back at his critics, adding that they should allow him to do his “job”.

“I was once paid to insult Tinubu, but that was a long time ago. Now, I have been paid by APC to support Tinubu and I will do so. If you are paid to do something, do it well… it’s Tinubu’s turn. I must do the job which they paid for,” he said.
It remains to be seen if this will lead to a frosty relationship between the two singers.
There are also report that Davido may have unfollowed Portable on Instagram.
It is also possible that they weren’t following each other on the photo and video sharing social networking service.
