OJ Simpson, former American football star and actor, has been released on parole after nine years in a Nevada jail.

The Nevada Department of Corrections confirmed the news on Sunday via a Facebook post with an image and video of Simpson signing documents and leaving Lovelock Correctional Center, where he was serving time.
Simpson was sentenced to prison after he was found guilty for armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and 10 other charges over a 2007 confrontation at a Las Vegas hotel.

Following a board hearing deliberating his appeal for an early parole release, Simpson’s request was approved by the panel in July.
The former athlete was acquitted of the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goodman In 1995.
