Google’s ‘year in search’ is an annual analysis that shows the top trending lists and also spotlights what the world searches to see, learn, and do.

The results, which were released on Monday, show a heightened interest in lifestyle, local politics, and notable personalities such as Moyo Lawal and Oladips who topped the trending people’s list for 2023.

In the musician category, Asake moved up to first place, followed closely by Khaid and Shallipopi. Asake’s song ‘Lonely At The Top’ also topped the search list for trending songs in 2023.

Topping the search list for loss are Mohbad, Murphy Afolabi, and Saint Obi — all of whom passed away this year.

Nigerians were also interested in Nollywood this year. This was reflected in the search for ‘Gangs of Lagos’, and ‘Shanty Town’ — both of which topped the movies and video series categories respectively.
