In a video published on Instagram on Thursday night, the 56-year-old Nollyood actor, whose real name is John Okafor, can be seen with his wife as he insisted he was hale and hearty.

Okafor also expressed disappointment over the ’wicked rumours,’ adding that he has handed the rumour peddlers to God.

“Oh God! People are saying that I have stroke, that I am down with stroke, why? How can you announce somebody’s sickness and you have many, you don’t even announce one,” Mr Ibu said.

“I don’t have any stroke, please. This is my wife, my humble wife. Well, we hand over everything to God.”

The internet was inundated with news earlier on Thursday that the comedian was hit by a mysterious stroke shortly after he returned from a recent trip to Owerri, Imo state capital.

Emeka Rollas, the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), was also quoted to have confirmed the medical condition, and noted that the actor was recovering.

“I am aware that Mr Ibu is truly down with stroke, but he is fast recovering and need more of our prayers right now,” he was quoted to have said.

Mr Ibu has however debunked the rumour, saying he is not suffering from the rumoured illness.

The actor had announced in 2018 that he was working on a movie project with Eddie Murphy, popular US comic-actor.
