Tunji Afonja, chief digital manager at Mavin Records, on Friday, released a statement alongside a chart showing that the record label has amassed the highest number of followers.

“This milestone is incredible when you consider we have 20 times the followers of Sony Music, one of the world’s biggest labels and we were able to achieve this as Africa is still getting online,” he said.

Afonja continued: “In fact, we are the first label among the most popular labels in the world to reach 1 million followers on Instagram.”

He attributed this accomplishment to the stellar line-up of artists signed to Mavin and the undying loyalty of their fans.

Afonja also attributed the approach to social media to the boss, Don Jazzy, who promotes a fun and engaging environment.

“We got to this point because we have amazing artists who have incredible and passionate fans that follow and engage with us daily.

“Our approach to social is a reflection on Don Jazzy’s vision of a fun and engaging environment where we celebrate our fans just as much as we celebrate our artists.

“This is the recipe that is yielding these incredible results,” he added.
