Mark Wahlberg is 2017’s highest paid actor, according to Forbes

The former rapper-turned-actor was adjudged to have earned $68 million pretax in the 12 months taken into consideration.

Wahlberg has the movie ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ to thank for his highest-ever pay.

Although the movie tanked at the box office, it didn’t affect his fixed compensation clause. He also made major gains from the forthcoming ‘Daddy’s Home 2’.

The Hollywood star beat last year’s top-ranked star, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson whose earnings summed up to $65 million putting him in second place.

‘The Fate of the Furious’ co-star Vin Diesel came third with an earning of $54.5 million, Adam Sandler with $50.5 million was fourth while Jackie Chan came fifth with $49 million.

Earnings estimates are based on data from Nielsen, ComScore, Box Office Mojo and IMDB, as well as interviews with industry insiders.

A quarter of this year’s list hail from outside the US, including three stars from Bollywood – Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar.

Australian-born Chris Hemsworth, who is at the eleventh place with $31.5 million earnings, returns to the ranking as the biggest gainer on the list.

‘La La Land’ star Emma Stone was last week named 2017’s highest paid actress.

The 28-year-old earned $26 million pre-tax in a one year, most of which came from ‘La La Land’ which made $445.3 million at the global box office.
